15 Weird Habits of Bookworms

I found this link this morning while scrolling through Facebook and I couldn’t help but read it, and I’m glad I did! I was smiling and nodding my head in agreement the entire time. We all know how we love to fangirl/guy and relate to someone else when it comes to books, and this link has things that every bookworm does. I loved it and I had to share it with you guys!

So here’s to the #shelfies the #booksniffers and the enternal Ships that are taking us down with them. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!

Writing Tips for the Young Author

There are pros and cons to being a young, still blooming and learning author. Take it from someone who knows. Writing is a part of us, and we all like to think that we’re good at it…and we are! All in our own way. Some of us are better at writing romance rather than fiction or prefer mystery over chick-lits. We all have our favorite genres, settings and writing styles. But we also all struggle with it.

Writing can be hard. There are days that it just flows (cherish them)! And there are days that you are craving to write but your brain is dead… or you’re trying to reach a goal and you just so happened to bump into your good old friend – who’s really not your friend – Writing Block from down the street!

We all have our ups and downs, so I gathered up some personal tips and inspiration to help keep you going…because I know your story is absolutely amazing. And I want you to finish it.

  1. Know your characters. You need to know the people in your story so it comes to you automatically how they’ll react to things and things they would say. Have their “profiles” written down somewhere you can easily access.

  2. Read. Most of us are bookworms anyways but we go through our spells where we don’t read for a little while. Reading can inspire you for several things in your story and trigger your brain with words and sayings to help your writing flow smoother.

  3. When you can’t write…write…in a notebook. I do most of my writing on my laptop, and when Writing Block invites himself over for tea I don’t know what to do! Umm the nice thing? I guess I let him in to ruin my day and act like everything’s fine! I finally tell him “I’m sorry, I don’t mean to rush you away (Yes I do) but I have a busy day…” I pull out my notebook and different and new ideas come to me when I have that pen and paper. Even if they’re not for the scene you are working on, jot down what comes to you and save it for later.

  4. Write outside in the sun. Being in the sun is healthy and will give you energy, which will boost your imagination! Plus being outside with all the colors also helps your imagination come up with things.

  5. Have someone else read your story. We read our story’s about 800,000,000 times a day!! Of course we’re going to think it’s awful! We’re tired of it! We practically have it memorized! Ask a family member or friends to read it and give their input. I’m sure it will positive!

  6. Get an app that helps you track your progress. I use Wordly, a free app that keeps track of how many words you write, and gives you a percentage of how close to being done with your book you are. It is helpful and inspiring. It gives you visual goals to work toward!

  7. Don’t give up! I have come close to giving up on my book several times. But then there is a day that I read someone’s blog post about their book or their writing tips and I am inspired again! And all I have to say is that I am thankful for all of you who have kept me going.

I hope that you found these tips helpful. If you have tips of your own please share in the comments! I would love to read them!

A Day in the Life of Me

Hey everyone, so I’ve kind of been lacking for what to post lately, so I decided to do something different from what I normally do. Today we’re going to spend a day in my life!So I normally wake up around 5:00/5:30 to text my boyfriend good morning when he heads to work (I know call me crazy) BUT THEN I go back to sleep😂 I wake up and start my day with a cup of coffee around 7:00. It is a very rare case that I sleep in past 7:30.

I usually scroll through social media and check my blog and email while I drink my coffee, and text my best friend good morning. (She doesn’t normally wake up till around 9:30/10:00)

Around 8:00 I have breakfast. I normally have eggs and toast or oatmeal. After I finish breakfast I go and get dressed, brush my teeth, etc.

it’s about 8:30 now and usually everyone else is finally awake and we go do chores. After chores I do one of multiple things:

  • School
  • Write my book
  • Read my Bible
  • Read a book
  • Walk around outside
  • Play with the dogs
  • Have a second breakfast (even though I shouldn’t)
  • Draw/paint
  • Etc.

I don’t have a thing-by-thing list but I do try to get all this done in a day. At least the important stuff. In the afternoon, around 3:30 or so, I chill out in the house and start brainstorming what to cook for dinner so it’ll be ready when everyone gets home from work. I normally turn on the radio and start dinner around 4:00.
After everyone gets home and we all have dinner, we just hang out and sometimes watch a movie until we all get tired and go to bed.

So there’s a day in the life of me! What do you do in your spare time?

Bit of a Late Post (+ Rebel Fire)

Hey everyone, and sorry for the late post! This was supposed to go up Saturday. So I didn’t when the art comepetition which I was a little disappointed but I am still glad  that I got to enter! We were able to get more info on the art gallery and art classes which was awesome.

Ive never taken a single art class in my life so I don’t know any fancy terms or special ways, haha. I just draw, and that makes me happy enough.😊 But I would like to take art classes so that I can improve more and have more opportunities for things.

So now, it has been a while sense I have said anything about Rebel Fire! I have definitely had ups and down s with it. Talk about some serious writing block! I tried just sitting down and writing but no matter how hard I tried I hated it because it just wasn’t flowing.

Right now it is coming right along and I’m so happy! I think I’ve gotten a much better view on what I want and I know my characters better as well. I know I know, I should be done with it! I mean I started it LAST YEAR!!! But last year I wasn’t quite as serious about writing as I am now so I just kind of left it for a while.

I want writing to be part of my “career”. When I’m older, I want to be a published author and I want to have several books! I want to finish Rebel Fire so bad! I have other plans too of course, and I hope that they work out as well. But now that I am taking writing more seriously, I’m trying to stick to it a whole lot more than I was last year.

Have tips for me or relate? Share in the comments!

NaNoWriMo?

Hey everyone! Today I have some questions for you guys. I’ve been doing a little research on NaNoWriMo. Not as much as I’d like, or as much as I should, but a little. Everyone on here that I’ve heard of doing it seems to enjoy it! I’ve been thinking of doing it…but I’m not quite sure yet.

I guess my biggest question would be: is your novel published on NaNoWriMo permanently or can you get it published elsewhere?

I think I would enjoy it, and it would be a good experience for me and a good way to help me become a better and faster writer. What happens if you don’t finish your book before the deadline?😱

I guess overall I really need to do more research, haha. Please give me your advice and opinion on NaNoWriMo!

Sorry for the short post.

Thanks,

I’m Entering an Art Competition!

If you’ve been around my blog for a while, you know I like to draw. Well my local art gallery is having a competition and I am entering one of my sketches! I get to go and enter today! The winner is announced and awards are given out on Friday. But the thing is that in the rules it says you have to leave your art at the gallery until ‘the end of the show’…which isn’t until May 2. So I pretty much have to leave my art there for a month. And maybe it’s weird of me, but I don’t like leaving my art places for long periods of time…

It was hard picking out which one to enter…but I think I picked out my best one, I hope. (Keep reading to see a pic!) Ahhh, I’m a little nervous! I’ve never entered in a real competition before. For art.

So you guys…please tell me what you think of my drawing, will you? Is it good enough? I know it’s not perfect, but here it is.

What I read last, am reading, and am reading next

I’ve gotten lots of lovely comments from my followers and….I’m staying!

So for my first “good” post in a while, let’s talk a little about books, shall we? I’ll be doing three: what I read last, what I am currently reading, and what I plan on reading next. So…I think some people have a name for this and do a regular blog post, but I’m not really sure, haha. Anyways here we go!

  • What I read last: The Vanishing Game

IMG_6906
This book was so creepily thrilling! I loved it! If you’re into sci-fi Mystery thrillers you should definitely give it a shot! It seriously made a little paranoid for like an entire day…but it was worth it!

  • What I’m currently reading: Lost In A Book

IMG_6907
An enchanted book traps Belle in the Beasts library…can she escape? Or will she be trapped in the enchanted books world forever? This has been very interesting with every turn of the next page! It has a few twists that make it just off track enough from the original you can’t put it down. I’m very close to the end, and I can already tell it won’t have the ending you would expect!

  • What I’m going to read next: Hit The Road

IMG_6908I can’t wait to start this book! It’s not my usual genre, it’s more of a comedy, but I’m so excited to read it! I think it’s going to be great! And hilarious!

Have you read any of these books or want to?

If I Stay

I’m not discussing the book here😂 I talked to my mom yesterday and she said I should keep Wordjunkie going, and I want to. I really do, I love it.

But do you guys want me to stay? I mean I love my blog but do you guys? If I stay I’m sure I’ll start doing more stuff like I was when I first started. Plus, I have another book I can give away!

I need more than just wanting to keep it going. I need you guys to give me some feedback here. So please like, comment and share. I need to know if you guys really want me to stick around.

All the best,

Wordjunkie
